'KEENE, N.H. 2/11/06- Ally Greenwood (East Hartford, Conn.) and Isabela Henry (Coram, N.Y.) hit key free throws in the final 16 seconds of play to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team to a 49-44 Little East Conference women's basketball victory over Keene State College at Spaulding Gym on Saturday.

With the game tied at 44, Green wood hit a pair of free throws after being fouled on a drive to give WCSU a 46-44 lead with 15.9 seconds left to play.

On KSC's next possession, Bekka Hopkins (Oxford, Mass.) was fouled, but missed both free throw attempts.  

Intentionally fouled with seven seconds remaining, Heney hit one of two free throws for the winning margin.

The loss ended KSC's (14-9, 8-4 LEC) six game winning streak. Western Conn. improves to 12-11 (7-5 LEC).   

Greenwood finished with a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds and Jennifer Kancler (Columbia, Conn.) scored 10 points.

The Owls had three players in double figures.  Hopkins had 13 points. Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds and Michele Boudreau (Readsboro, Vt.) filling in for Bri Barnes (Merrimack, N.H.) who was attending a family wedding, also had 10 points.

In the first half, Keene State took a 10 point lead (21-10) on a three-pointer by Michele Boudreau at the 11:35 mark.  A 12-0 run put WCSU up 22-21 with 5:51 to go.  Danielle Gravely (Schenectady, N.Y.) ended the drought with a basket for KSC, which went on to take a slim 27-25 halftime lead.

Both teams struggled from the field. KSC shot just 26% while WCSU was at 32%.

Keene State will be at Plymouth State on Tuesday.
