'KEENE, N.H. 9/16/06 - The Keene State College women's
volleyball team posted 3-1 wins over Western Conn. and
UMass-Dartmouth in Little East Conference round-robin play at
Spaulding Gym on Saturday.
Keene State improves to 10-3 (2-0 Little East) on the season.
The Owls began the day by defeating UMass-Dartmouth (30-27,
30-27, 30-32, and 30-18). Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) had
11 kills and six blocks, Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.)
added 12 kills and 22 assists, and Genna Florkowski (East
Northport, N.Y.) finished with 25 digs for the Owls.
For UMD, Hilary Teichart (Pocasset, Mass.) had 11 kills, Alyssa
Dearani (Wollaston, Mass.) had nine kills, and Lauren Daley
(Brockton, Mass.) finished with 37 assists and four service aces.
In the second match, Western Conn. defeated UMass-Dartmouth 3-1
(30-24, 21-30, 30-25, and 30-20). Lindsay Turner
(Clinton, Conn.) led WCSU with 13 assists, six service aces, and
five digs and Gretchen Olson (Marlborough, Conn.) added 12 kills.
The Corsairs (4-4, 0-2 LEC) were led by Nazareth Cardoso
(Brockston, Mass.) with 15 kills. Aly Zagame (Greenfield,
Mass.) added 35 digs and Dearnani finished with 10 kills.
In the final match, Keene State defeated Western Conn. (30-27,
33-35, 30-20, and 30-15). O'Bryant had another strong
performance with 16 kills and 15 digs for KSC. Yankowski had
10 kills and 32 assists and Mia Silvestri (Herrick Center, Pa.)
contributed 10 kills and two blocks.
Dezarhae Hymes (Kingsten, N.Y.) had 30 assists and Blair Waycay
(Ojai, Ca.) had 15 kills to lead the Colonials (1-5, 1-1 LEC).
KSC hosts Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
