NORTHAMPTON, MASS. 10/13/07 - The Keene State women's
volleyball team won its two matches on Saturday to finish third at
the Smith College Tournament.
The Owls (18-10), defeated Keuka College of New York 3-0 (30-22,
30-23, 30-24) and Rivier College 3-1 (30-19, 27-30, 30-21, 30-15).
Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) excelled in both
matches. The junior middle hitter had 16 kills and five
blocks against Keuka and 15 kills and four blocks in the win over
Rivier.
Senior hitter Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) filled up the
score sheet with nine kills, 10 digs, and two blocks against Keuka
and 10 kills and 16 digs vs. Rivier. Sophomore middle blocker
Carly Newton (Centerville, Mass.) finished with 11 kills and one
block against Keuak and 14 kills and three blocks against Rivier.
Junior hitter Chia Rowe (Exeter, N.H.) came of the bench to
contribute 12 kills with just one error and two blocks against
Rivier.
Keene State returns to the court next Saturday when it travels to
RIC for a match that could determine first place in the LEC.
