BOSTON, MASS. 12/1/07 - Senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) posted an NCAA Division III Championship provisional qualifying time in the 5K and freshman Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) won the mile race as the Keene State College track teams opened up their season at the Husky Winter Track and Field Carnival at Boston's Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday.
Adams, coming off an All-American cross country season, finished second in the 5K with a time of 17:10.98. She also finished third in the 3K with a time of 10:16.33.
Returning from a semester in Austrailia, senior Cyrstal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) placed third in the high jump (5'-04.00"). In other events, freshman Nicole Slane (Milford, N.H.) was seventh in the mile (5:18.55) and junior Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) took eight in the shot put (36'-11.50").
Competing in his first college track meet, MacPherson won the mile race with a time of 4:17.02. Junior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) was third (4:20.04) and freshman Charlie Baldour (Newtown, Conn.) was fifth (4:21.44). MacPherson also placed second in the 800 (1:59.06. Baldour was sixth (2:00.50).
Freshman Jeff Trethewey (Merimack, N.H.) finished fourth in the 1,000 (2:34.64) and Senior Kevin Kelleher (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was sixth in the 3K (8:53.46).
KSC assistant coach Wilson Perez won the 5K with a time of 14:59.24. Sophomore Jared Samuel (Londonderry, N.H.) placed fifth (15:16.23).
In field events, sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) was seventh in the long jump (21'-09.50").
