KEENE, N.H. 2/13/2007 - Senior forward Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) had a game high 20 points to lead the Keene State College women's basketball team to a convincing 81-51 win over Plymouth State University at Spaulding Gym on Tuesday night. Begnoche, who hit nine of her 12 shots from the field, also blocked five PSU shots.
KSC hit 53% (30-56) of their shots from the field and had a 41-29 advantage on the boards.
It was the largest margin of victory between the two teams in Little East play.
Winners of seven straight, KSC (18-5,11-2 LEC) clinches second place in the LEC. The 18 wins is a high water mark for the Owls in Division III play. PSU drops to 6-17 (2-11 LEC).
Keene State led from start to finish in the game between the two in-state rivals. A 15-0 run midway in the half, capped off by a jumper by Caitlin Jamiel (Cranston, R.I.) put KSC up 29-7. The Owls entered the locker room with a commanding 40-22 lead.
The Panthers never threatened the rest of the way.
Kristen Degou (Newburyport, Mass.) and Jamiel finished with 10 points each. All 13 players who dressed for the Owls saw game action. Jamiel also pulled down a team high six rebounds.
Karly Gray (Southampton, Mass.) led the Panthers with nine points.
Keene State has won the last six meetings between the two teams, including an 80-59 victory earlier this season in Plymouth.
Both teams wrap up their regular season schedule on Saturday. Keene State host Southern Maine and Plymouth State travels to Eastern Connecticut.
