'FORT MYERS, FLA. 3/15/07 - The Keene State College
softball team improved its spring week record to 7-1 with a pair of
victories in Fort Myers, Fla. on Thursday.
The Owls collected 13 hits in a 12-3 five inning win over
Wisconsin-Superior and Erin Fuoroli (Warwick, R.I.) tossed a
complete game four-hitter with career-tying nine strikeouts in a
5-0 shutout over Framingham State.
Keene State had a five run second inning against
Wisconsin-Superior and added two more runs in the second and fourth
innings. Katie Allenson (Clifton, Park, N.Y.) finished off
the Yellow Jackets with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.
Allenson had four RBIs in the game.
Liz Mroczka (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Jessica Starkey (Keene, N.H.),
Colleen Ferguson (Sussex, N.J.), and Kari Gardner (Grafton, Mass.)
had two hits each in the game.
Ashlee Nicholson (Swanzey, N.H.) improved her record to 3-0 with
the win. She gave up five hits, fanned five and didn't allow a
walk.
Allie D'Amtao (Bristol, Conn.) gave the Owls a 3-0 lead against
Framingham State with a three-run home run in the second
inning. It was her first college round-tripper for the
sophomore outfielder.
In the fourth, Jenna Patnode (Swanzey, N.H.) had a two-run
single.
Fuoroli improved her record to 3-1.
Keene State wraps up its spring week trip on Friday with games
against Caroll College of Wisconsin and Fredonia (N.Y.) State.
