'SPRINGFIELD MASS. 8/31/07 - The Keene State College women's volleyball team opened its 2007 season with a 3-1 non-conference victory over Western Conn. State University at the Western New England College Tournament on Friday night.

The Owls won the first two games 30-25, 30-20. After dropping the third game 30-32, KSC came back to post a 30-22 in the deciding fourth game.

Junior middle-hitter Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) led the Owls with 20 kills.  Senior hitter Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) finished with nine kills and 19 digs, and Junior Libero Sarah Peterson (Danville, N.H.) had a strong defensive match with 22 digs.

Keene State plays Western New England (11 a.m.), Westfield State (1:30 p.m.), and Mitchell College (4 p.m.) on Saturday.
