WESTFIELD - Sophomore forward Carly Benning (Brewster, Mass.)
scored two goals and freshman Amy Dolce (Windham, N.H.) tallied the
game-winning goal to lead Keene State to a 3-2 victory over
Westfield State in a well played field hockey game Wednesday
evening, Sept. 26.
Keene improved to 3-1 in the Little East Conference and 6-3
overall.Westfield is 2-2 and 5-3.
Westfield opened the scoring exactly 10 minutes into the game on
an unassisted goal by senior Megan Wolski, the college's all-time
leading scorer.
Benning scored the next two goals, the first on an assist from
sophomore Karen Robinson (Phillipston, Mass./Quabbin Regional).
Sophomore Erin Dallas (Marlow, N.H./Keene) assisted on the final
two goals.
Westfield tied it at 2-all with 21:27 left the second half on
Vicky Winson's wicked shot on a penalty corner. Dolce then
scored the game winner at the 10:28 mark.
Westfield had two excellent scoring opportunities in the final
minutes. With the Keene goalie way out of position, junior back
Samantha Blanchard made a defensive save to thwart a scoring
attempt. Westfield also had a penalty corner in the final 10
seconds but Keene survived
the onslaught.
