KEENE, NH 9/29/07 - The Keene State field hockey
team rolled to a 7-2 Little East Conference victory over
Western Connecticut at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday. . Allyssa
Rowell (Queensbury, NY) had two goals, an assist and two key
defensive saves to lead the Owls to their fourth straight
victory. The Owls improve to 7-3 (4-1 LEC) while the
Colonials drop to 3-6 (2-3 LEC).
Kat Trimmer (Hanover, NH) scored the first two goals of the game
for the Owls. The first was assisted by Carly Benning
(Brewster, MA) at 3:51 and the second by Erin Dallas (Keene, NH) at
the 13:51 mark. Benning put the Owls up 3-0 at 19:22 after
taking a crossing pass from Dallas. The Colonials battled
back to make it 3-2 at the end of the half. Meredith Stuart
(Washington, CT) connected on a penalty stroke 26:31 and six
minutes later Kimberly Bauco (Danbury, CT) scored to make it a one
goal game.
The Owls dominated play in the second half scoring four unanswered
goals. Benning scored her second of the game assisted by Rowell at
the 41:58 mark. Rowell added a pair and Amy Dolce (Windham,
NH) ended the game with a goal in extra time off an Owl corner
assisted by Chelsea Blackmer (Boylston, MA).
Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) started the game in goal for the
Owls and made one save. Jennifer McDougall (Avon, Conn.)
played the second half and finished with one save. Christina
Natale (Farmington Conn.) (seven saves) and Sandra Vermeulen
(Riverdale, N.J.) (1 save) both saw action in goal for the
Colonials.
The Owls host rival Plymouth State on Tuesday (6 p.m.).
Western Conn. play Tuesday at home against Framingham State (6
p.m.).
