DANBURY, CT (Jan. 15) - The Keene State women's basketball team
saw its seven game winning streak come to an end with a 51-33
Little East Conference loss to Western Conn. State on
Tuesday. Senior Ally Greenwood (East Hartford, CT) scored a
game high 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and handed out four
assists to lead the Colonials to the victoryat Feldman Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Colonials was freshman
Heather Lee (Seymour, CT) who scored 14 points. Junior Stacey
Roberts (Windham, CT) dominated the boards pulling down a game high
12 rebounds, while junior Isabella Henry (Coram, NY) contributed
eight points and eight rebounds for WestConn.
Kristin Degou (Newburyport, MA) and Alyssa Sapp (Hartford, VT) each
scored 10 points to lead Keene State. Jenn Kinney (Salem, NH)
pulled down 11 rebounds in a losing effort for the Owls.
Trailing by three with 4:30 remaining in the first half, the
Colonials went on a 12-0 run to close out the half and take a 24-15
lead into the locker room at intermission. Keene State never
found their shooting touch in the second half hitting 26% from the
field for the game, 1-18 from beyond the 3-point line, and
converting only 8 of 17 free throws.
With tonight's victory, Western Connecticut State University raises
their season record to 10-2 (4-0 in the LEC), while Keene State
College falls to 9-5 (2-2 LEC).
The Owls return home to face UMass-Boston on Saturday (1 p.m.).
