BOSTON, MASS 1/26/08 - Keene State's Crystal Blamy has something to jump about. The senior from Walpole, N.H., won the high jump event at Boston University's Terrier Invitational with a mark of 5'5.75" on Saturday. Blamy qualified for the NCAA Division III championship in the event last week at the Tufts Invitational.
Senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) had a personal best time (9:47.80) with her 12th place finish in the 3,000-meter race.
On the men's side, senior Kevin Kelleher (Rocky Hill, Conn.) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time (4:12.88) in the mile. Freshman Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) just missed the standard with a time of 4:15.83).
In other events, junior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) recorded a New England Division III championship qualifying time in the 800 (1:55.59) and junior Sean Gavaghan (Monroe, Conn.) set a personal best and NE Div.III qualifying time (8:44) in the 3K race. Pat Craven (North Kingstown, R.I.), teamed with Kelleher, Najem, and MacPherson to set a KSC record (3:28.40) in the 4x400 relay.
Several Owl athletes also competed at the Wesleyan (Conn.) Invitational on Saturday.
In the women's field, senior Laura Kintz (Jaffrey, N.H.) won the 200-meter race with a time of 27.83. Sophomore Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.) took second in the 1,000 race (3:11.60). In field events, senior Krystal Gavin (Brimfield, Mass.) placed second in the high jump (5'-03.75"), freshman Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) was third in the shot-put (35'-07.75"), and freshman Vanessa Ward took fourth (15'-11.00) in the long jump.
In the men's field, senior John Napolitano (Providence, R.I.) won the weight throw competition (42'-08.25"), sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) placed fourth in the high jump (6'-03.25") and the long jump (21'-04.25"), and freshman Sarbjit Singh (West Lebanon, N.H.) was fourth in the triple jump (42'-02.00").
Keene State competes next weekend at the Dartmouth Invitational.
