KEENE, N.H.10/25/08 - Junior forward Carly
Benning (Brewster, Mass.) netted three goals to lead Keene
State to a 5-0 Little East Conference field hockey victory over
Fitchburg State at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Keene State (14-4, 10-0) remains undefeated in conference
play. Fitchburg falls to 7-9 (4-6 LEC).
Senior back Alyssa Rowell (Queensbury, N.Y.)
and Benning scored first half goals for KSC. In the second
half, Benning scored a pair, her ninth and 10th goals of the season
five minutes apart to give the Owls a 4-0 lead. Rowell
completed the scoring with her second of the game and 10th of the
season at the 58:24 mark.
KSC junior midfielder Erin Dallas (Marlow,
N.H.) also picked up a couple of assists.
Sophomore goalie Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.)
making her first start of the season, made one save to register her
first career shutout.
Sophomore Taylor Van Ahnen (Seekonk, Mass.) stopped nine shots
for the Falcons.
KSC had a 21-3 advantage in shots and an 11-1 lead in penalty
corners.
Keene State is at Smith College on Thursday (6 p.m.).
Fitchburg, which has dropped its last five games, is at Southern
Maine next Saturday (1 p.m.).
