LEWISTON, ME. 10/3/08 - The Keene State College
women's volleyball team defeated Bowdoin College and the University
of New England at the Mid Coast Volleyball Invitational on Friday
night.
The Owls, ranked 11th in this week's New England poll, came back
from a two game deficit to beat #13 ranked Bowdoin 3-2 (21-25,
19-25, 29-27, 25-21, and 15-12). Senior libero Sarah
Peterson (Danville, N.H.) set a KSC record with 38 digs in
the match. Junior setter Jordan Pokryfki
(Wasilla, Alaska) also chipped in defensively with 22 digs.
Senior middle-hitter Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack,
N.H.) led the offense with 15 kills and six blocks. Freshman
outside hitter Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.)
added 13 kills, and freshman hitter Kristen Girard
(Red Hook, N.Y.) finished with 15 kills.
The Owls beat UNE in four games (25-20, 21-25, 25-22, and
25-17). Brittany O'Bryant had a match high 19 kills and five
blocks, Girard and Bridget O'Bryant had 10 kills each, and Pokryfki
finished with 49 assists three service aces.
Keene State (16-4) resumes tournament play tomorrow at
Bowdoin with a 12 p.m. match against Bates College.
