NORTH DARMOUTH, MASS. 11/1/08 - The Keene State field hockey team saw its bid for an undefeated Little East Conference season fall a game short with a 3-1 setback to UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday.

The Owls (15-5, 10-1 LEC), which had already secured the top seed in the LEC tournament, were looking for their third undefeated LEC campaign.  They posted undefeated marks in 2006, 2003 and in 1999 when the LEC was a four-team field hockey conference.

KSC and UMD traded goals in the first half.  Owl freshman Elizabeth Coffin (Sugar Hill, N.H.) tied the score with her third goal of the season at the 21:02 mark.  The Corsairs scored a pair of unanswered goals in the second half.  It was KSC's first regular season LEC loss in 19 games.

Junior goalie Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) finished the game with seven saves.

KSC, four-time LEC champs, will open up in defense of its conference crown on Tuesday (5 p.m.) with a quarterfinal game against Bridgewater State.
