BURLINGTON, VT. 11/15/08 - The Keene State men's swim team gave the
University of Maine, a Division I program, a battle before falling
to the Bears 162-136 in a dual meet held at the University of
Vermont on Saturday.
The Owls (3-2) had their share of top performances at the
meet. Freshman Colin Daly (Cromwell, Conn.)
won the 100 back (56.12), junior Domingo Rose
(Nashua, N.H.) won the 100 breast (1:01.14), and sophomore
Karl Balinski (Waterford, Conn.) won the 50 free
(22.80) and 200 free (1:49.47). Sophomore Connor
Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.), Daly, Rose, and Balinski also
teamed up to win the 400 medley relay (3:40.35).
The Owls swept both the one and three-meter diving events.
Freshman Patrick Rogers (Wayland, Mass) (192.68
points), sophomore Tim Thornton (Fairfield, Conn.)
(189.16 points), and freshman Derek Peabody
(Haverhill, Mass.) with 183.30 points, finished 1-2-3 in the
one-meter board.
The finished in the same order (Rogers 195.89 points, Thornton
186.82 points, and Peabody 167.78) in the three-meter event.
The Owls are at Wheaton College next Saturday for a tri-meet with
Springfield College.
