HANOVER, N.H. 2/2/08 - Keene State freshman Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) set a Owl record in the shot put event at the Dartmouth Classic Track Meet held Saturday at the Leverone Field House in Hanover, N.H. Kolacz placed eighth in the event with a throw of 44'-01.25". He broke the previous mark of Chris Yingling (43'-9.00) set in 2006. Kolacz also took sixth in the weight throw (48'-02.50".)
The Owls posted three first place finishes at the meet. Senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the mile (5:00.81) and senior Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) placed first in the high jump (5'-06.00). In the men's field, freshman Jeff Tretheway (Merrimack, N.H.) won the mile with a time of 4:24.08. Junior Sean Gavaghan (Monroe, Conn.) was third (4:24.92) in the race.
In other events, freshman Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) placed second in the 1,000 (2:30.55) junior Pat Craven (North Kingstown, R.I.) was third in the 500 (1:08.02) and fourth in the 1,000 (2:35.94), and sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) was third in the 400 (51.79) and the long jump (21'-08.00").
In women's field events, sophomore Kimber Stannard (Higganum, Conn.) placed third in the triple jump (34'-01.25").
A split squad of KSC athletes will compete next Saturday at Boston University and Smith College.
