KEENE, N.H. 9/13/08 - The Keene State College field hockey team
began Little East play with a dominating 8-0 shutout win over
Eastern Connecticut State University at Owl Athletic Complex on
Saturday.
The Owls (5-1, 1-0 LEC), who extended there winning streak to
five games, were led by junior forward Carly
Benning (Brewster, Mass.) and junior back Alyssa
Rowell (Queensbury, N.Y.) who finished the game with two
goals each.
Senior forward Elizabeth Rand (Peterborough,
N.H.), junior midfielder Erin Dallas (Marlow,
N.H.), senior back Heather McDougall (Avon,
Conn.), and freshman Sabrina Carey (Salem, N.Y.) also found the
back of the net for the owls, who scored three goals in the first
half and another five in the second stanza.
KSC outshot ECSU 29-7 and had a 13-6 advantage in penalty
corners.
Junior goalie Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) made
four saves to post her first shutout of the season.
Freshman Danielle Reichardt (Ocean Township, N.J.) and junior
Tia Mucciarone (Franklin, Mass.) both played a half in goal for the
Warriors (1-2, 0-1 LEC). Reichardt made six saves and
Mucciarone stopped four shots.
KSC has won the last seven meetings between the two teams,
posting shutout wins the past three seasons.
Keene State is at Williams College on Tuesday (7 p.m.) while
Eastern Conn. travels to Babson College on Thursday (6 p.m.).
