KEENE, N.H. 9/20/08 - The Keene State College field hockey team
netted two goals in each half on the way to posting a 4-0 Little
East Conference shutout victory over visiting Framingham State
College on Saturday.
The Owls improve to 6-2 (2-0 LEC) while the Rams (3-1, 1-1 LEC)
suffered their first loss of the season.
Junior midfielder Erin Dallas (Marlow, N.H.)
led the Owls' offense with two goals. Junior back
Alyssa Rowell (Queensbury, N.Y.) chipped in with a
couple of assists.
Dallas gave KSC a 1-0 lead at the 15:15 mark when she scored on
a corner opportunity with a give and go from
Rowell. Chelsea Blackmer (Boylston,
Mass.) made it a 2-0 game six minutes later. Standing in
front of the net, the sophomore forward pivoted and shot the ball
past FSC junior goalie Stephanie Bourgeois (Waltham, Mass.) for her
second goal of the season.
Senior midfielder Amanda Wright (Shelburne,
Mass.) scored on a flurry in front of the net to make it 3-0.
Dallas concluded the scoring with her second goal of the game and
team-leading sixth of the season on a shot from just inside the
arc.
The Owls held a wide 26-1 advantage in shots.
KSC junior goalie Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.)
turned aside one shot to notch her second shutout of the season.
Bourgeois played the first 62 minutes, finishing with 10
saves. Sophomore goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.)
stopped two shots in the final eight minutes of play.
IN LEC play, KSC leads the series 8-1. The Ram's lone win
(1-0) came last season in Framingham.
Keene State hosts Trinity College on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
Framingham State returns home to face Gordon on Tuesday (4
p.m.).
