DANBURY, CONN. 9/20/08 - The Keene State women's
volleyball team posted three game sweeps over UMass-Dartmouth and
Western Connecticut in Little East Conference round-robin play at
Danbury, Conn. on Saturday.
Keene State (11-4, 2-0 LEC), the defending LEC regular season
champs, have won their last nine regular season LEC matches.
With a combined 43 digs in the two matches, senior libero
Sarah Peterson (Danville, N.H.) becomes KSC's
all-time leader with 1,421 digs. The previous record of 1,381 was
held by Genna Florkowski, who played for the Owls from 2003-06. In
addition, senior middle blocker Brittany O'Bryant
(Merrimack, N.H.) set the single-match assist block record with
seven vs. UMD.
The Owls defeated UMass-Dartmouth 25-9, 25-13, and
25-21. Brittany O'Bryant led the
way with 12 kills, and seven blocks. Freshman hitter
Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) had eight
kills, junior hitter Abby Rosen (Hebron, Conn.),
seven kills and 19 digs, Peterson 22 digs, and junior setter
Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, Alaska), 30 assists.
Keene State beat Western Conn. 25-16, 25-10, and 25-19.
Bridget O'Bryant finished with 11 kills and 17 digs in the
match. Brittany O'Bryant had nine kills and five blocks,
Peterson added 21 digs and Pokryfki contributed 30 assists.
Keene State returns to Spaulding Gym on Thursday for a match
against Rivier College (7 p.m.).
