KEENE, N.H. 9/6/08 - Senior captain Liz
Rand (Peterborough, N.H.) netted a pair of goals to lead
the Keene State College field hockey team to a 4-0 shutout victory
over Vassar College on Saturday.
The Owls (2-1) controlled play from the start on the way to
finishing with a 20-1 shot advantage.
Freshman Jackie Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) first
college goal gave the Owls a 1-0 halftime lead.
Rand scored her two goals within a five minute span in the second
half to put KSC up 3-0. Freshman Aislynn Sherry
(Rehoboth, Mass.) completed the scoring with her first college
goal.
Goalies Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) and
Meghan LeDoux (Standish, Me.) combined to post the
shutout with making a save.
Taylor Herman made eight saves before Rachel Horwitz took over
in goal for Vassar (0-1), which was playing its season opener.
Keene State is at Springfield College on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
