KEENE, N.H. 1/21/09 - Keene State men's and women's
swim/dive teams posted dominating dual meets victories over
Bridgewater State at Spaulding Gym Pool on Wednesday evening.
The KSC women (6-4) won 12 of 13 events en route to a 127-89 win
over the Bears (4-4). The Owl men (6-4) had an equally strong
performance, winning all 11 swim races in their 126-83 victory over
BSC (1-5).
Five Owl women were double winners. Freshman
Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) won the 100 free
(58.47) and the 200 free (2:07.78), junior Jackie
Foster (Bedford, N.H.) won the 50 free (26.80) and the 500
free (5:21.50), junior Kristine Trutor (Holden,
Mass.) won the 100 I.M. (1:04.730 and the 100 back (1:03.58),
freshman Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.) won the
100 fly (1:02.27) and the 100 breast (1:10.76) and sophomore
Rachel Battis (Beacon Falls, Conn.) won both
one-meter (203.55 points) and three-meter (159.33 points) diving
events.
Junior Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.) also won
the 400 I.M. (4:54.03) and senior Katie Fielder
(Sandwich, Mass.) and sophomore Jessica Laidley
(Brockton, Mass.) teamed up with Foster and Whitaker to win the 200
free relay (1:50.71).
The Bears lone victory came in the 200 medley relay with seniors
Erica Robinson (Lynn, Mass.). Katrina Scholtz (Amesbury, Mass.) and
Sarah Fuller (Palmer, Mass.), junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis,
Ind.) recording a winning time of 2:02.39.
The Keene State men had three double winners. Sophomore
Dan Morse (Hope, R.I.) won the 200 free (1:50.33)
and the 500 free (4:56.80), freshman Colin Daly
(Cromwell, Conn.) won the 50 free (23.30) and the 100 back (57.22)
and sophomore Connor Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.) won
the 100 I.M. (57.50) and the 100 fly (55.34).
Other first place finishes were turned in by sophomore
Lucas Pozzetta (Merrimack, N.H.) in the 400 I.M.
(4:34.53), freshman Harrison Hollingsworth (Derry,
N.H.) in the 100 free (50.120 and junior Domingo
Rose (Nashua, N.H.) in the 100 breast (1:00.19).
The Owls won both relays. Twin brothers
Steve and Dan Theleen (Southbury,
Conn.), freshman Griffin Brown (Sherman, Conn.),
and Pennoyer won the 200 medley relay (1:47.80) and freshman
Ramsey Haddad (Barrington, R.I.), Daly, Brown, and
Hollingsworth won the 200 free relay (1:36.79).
Sophomore Glenn Berquist (Needham, Mass.) won both the one-meter
(240.50 points) and three-meter (230.50 points) diving events.
On Saturday, Keene State hosts Bentley College (1 p.m.) and the
Bridgewater State women entertain Westfield State (2 p.m.).
