HANOVER, N.H. 1/31/09 - Sophomore Amy
Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) had a big day for the KSC women
a the Dartmouth Track Classic on Saturday in Hanover. She finished
second in the mile (5:11.96) and third in the 800 (2:23.06).
Knoblock also joined juniors Christina Bourbeau
(Manchester, N.H.) and Kimber Stannard (Higganum,
Conn.) and freshman Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.)
to place fourth in the 4x400 relay (4:14.61).
Freshmen Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) and
Natalie Ferro (Dennis, Mass.) placed third
(3:22.96) and fourth (3:28.07) respectively in the 1,000 race.
Freshman Emily Peterson (Weare, N.H.) was fifth in the 60-dash
(8.47).
In field events, Bourbeau was second in the pole vault
(10'-06.00") and sophomore Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) took sixth
in the shotput (37'-06.00").
The Keene State men's 4x200 relay team set a school record in
the event. Sophomore Sarbjit Singh (West Lebanon,
N.H.) and freshmen Matt Norton (Claremont, N.H.),
Greg Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) and Chris
Cheever (Grantham, N.H.) finished third in the race with
an Owl record time of 1:35.96.
The Owls swept the top three places in the mile. Sophomore
Jeff Trethewey (Merrimack, N.H.) won in a time of
4:19.44. Senior Sean Gavaghan (Monroe,
Conn.) was second (4:24.71) and sophomore Corey
Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) took third (4:25.08).
Sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) won
the weight throw with a distance of 56'-10.75").
In other races, senior Pat Craven (North
Kingstown, R.I.) placed second in the 800 (1:57.60), senior
Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) was third in the 1,000
(2:38.37) and the 4x800 relay team of Brandon
Schillemat (Nelson, N.H.), junior Jared
Samuel (Londonderry, N.H.) Craven and Gavaghan finished
third with a time of 8:20.66.
Cheever also placed seventh in the long jump (21'-02.00").
The Owls compete at Tufts University next Saturday.
