MIDDLEBURY, Vermont - The 11th ranked Panthers of
Middlebury College scored three goals in each half on the way to
posting a 6-0 non-conference field hockey victory over
Keene State College at Kohn Field on Tuesday afternoon. Heather
McCormack and Lauren Greer scored two goals apiece to lead
Middlebury. The victory is the sixth for the Panthers in their last
seven games, while the Owls see their winning streak stopped at
three.
Chase Delano opened the scoring with her first of the season just
1:59 into the contest. Greer took a feed from McCormack down low at
6:15 to give the Panthers a 2-0 advantage. The lead grew to 3-0
just 12:23 into the game as McCormack took a pass across the circle
from Delano and found the back of the cage. Middlebury entered the
intermission with a 3-0 advantage and 13-7 lead in shots.
Middlebury controlled the play in the second half, adding three
more goals and holding a 14-2 margin in shots. McCormack netted her
second of the day just 2:36 into the half, tipping a pass from
Mullery Doar. Sally Ryan entered the scoring column at 42:43 with a
helper going to Dana Heritage, her second of the game. Greer
wrapped-up the scoring with her team-leading 10th goal
of the season at the 49:32 mark.
Becca Shaw made five saves in goal to earn her first shutout of the
season. Vikki Stoessel and Meghan
Ledoux combined to make 14 stops for the Owls.
Keene State returns to Little East action on Saturday when it
travels to Worcester State.
