KEENE, N.H. 10/20/09 - The Keene State women's volleyball team
celebrated senior night by sweeping Worcester State College 3-0
(25-9, 25-15 and 25-14) in a non-conference match played at
Spaulding Gym on Tuesday night.
Keene State, winners of three straight matches, improves to
13-15 while Worcester State falls to 11-13.
Sophomore hitter Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.)
had a big night for the Owls with a career high 16 kills to go with
a sparkling .625 hitting percentage. Sophomores
Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) and
Tiffani Brooks (Salem, Conn.) each had seven
kills. Senior Jordan Pokryfki
(Wasilla, AK) handed out 34 assists.
Senior Lauren Saylor (Swansea, Mass.) had four kills to lead the
Lancers.
It was a sentimental night for Owl seniors Abby
Rosen (Hebron, Conn.) and Pokryfki.
"It's surreal that four years have gone by so quickly," said Rosen,
who finished the match with 10 digs. "It's a little sad, but
it's exciting. You end a chapter and you start a new one."
Pokyrfki said senior night was bittersweet. "It's exciting to be
graduating and that's going to open a new chapter of my life, but
it's sad that this is my last regular season home game. It
really hasn't hit me yet, but I'm going to miss it a lot."
"I'm going to miss these girls," said KSC Coach Bob
Weiner. "In their first three years, they won 79
matches and played important roles on our championship team.
Keene State travels to Gorham, Maine on Saturday for LEC matches
against Southern Maine and Rhode Island College.
