SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 4/18/09 - Keene State College won four
events at the Springfield Invitational track meet on Saturday.
Sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) won
two of those events, placing first in the hammer (56.78-meters) and
the discus (45.72-meters).
Sophomore Brandon Schillemat (Nelson, N.H.) won
the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:31.49. Freshmen
Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.) and George
Stevens (Alton, N.H.) placed third (15:47.20) and fourth
(15:57.24) respectively in the race.
KSC was seventh in the 11-team field with 55-points. MIT won the
championship with 1999.50 points.
Senior Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) had
the lone victory for the Owls in the women's field, winning the
javelin with a mark of 37.15-meters. Freshman Kate
Deloid (Bedford, N.H.) posted a PR mark of 32.85-meter
with her fourth place finish in the discus, qualifying for
the New England Division III Championships.
Freshman Heather Pierce (Buckland, Mass.)
was third in the 5,000 (19:03.89).
Several Owls competed in the Larry Ellis Invitational at
Princeton University on Friday night.
Sophomore Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough,
Me.) had the top finish for KSC, placing 21st in the 800
(2:16.17). Senior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.)
was 26th in the 800 (1:53.61), and sophomore Craig
MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) was 28th in the 1,500
(3:53.77). Macpherson's time was a NCAA championship
provisional qualifying mark.
