WALTHAM, MASS. 1/23/10 - Keene State men's and women's swim/dive
teams defeated Bentley College in a key regional dual meet in
Waltham, Mass. on Saturday.
The Keene State men improve its record to 5-1 with a 154.5-141 win
over the Falcons. The Owls women edged a larger Bentley
squad 156-141 to improve its dual meet mark to 5-3.
Competing in his first meet of the season after taking last year
off, senior Cody Larrimore (Trappe, Md.) swam the
opening leg of the 200 medley relay and set a KSC record in the 50
backstroke (25.18). He also won the 50 free (21.82) and the 100 fly
(54.05). Freshman newcomer Ray Estrada (Bellingham,
Mass.) won his two individual events, the 200 fly
(2:03.24), 200 back (2:00.27).
"The addition of Larrimore and Estrada made a strong men's team
even stronger," said KSC Coach Jack Fabian.
Other wins were posted by junior Daniel Morse (Hope,
R.I.) in the 500 free (4:58.36) and the 1,000 free
(10:08.13), junior Lucas Pozzetta (Merrimack,
N.H.) in the 200 free (1:49.76), senior Domingo
Rose (Nashua, N.H.) in the 100 breast (1:00.67) and 200
breast (2:15.20), and junior Connor Pennoyer (Norwalk,
Conn.) in the 100 free (49.44).
Sophomore Derek Peabody (Haverhill, Mass.) won the
one-meter diving event with 219.52 points and the team of junior
D.J. Collis (Laconia, N.H.), Larrimore, Rose, and
Pennoyer won the 200 medley relay (1:38.09). Freshman
Austin Harris (Essex Junction, Vt.), Larrimore,
Pozzetta, and Pennoyer also prevailed in the 400 free relay
(3:20.61).
Seniors Jackie Foster (Goffstown, N.H.) and
Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.), sophomore
Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.), and freshman
Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.) each won two
races. Foster won the 500 free (5:28.04) and 1,000 free
(11:01.11), Trutor won the 100 back (1:01.40) and the 200 back
(2:13.65), Whitaker touched the wall first in the 100 free (54.70)
and the 200 free (2:00.48), and Umbarger placed first in the 50
free (24.54) and the 100 fly (59.69).
Sophomore Meghan Wilson (Torrington, Conn.)
combined with Whitaker, Trutor, and Umbarger to win the 200 medley
relay (1:52.28). Sophomore Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.),
Foster, senior Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.) and
Umbarger teamed up to win the 400 free relay.
The Owls wrap up their dual meet schedule with a home meet against
Gordon College next Saturday.
