CAMBRIDGE, Mass. 1/23/10 - The Keene State College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the M.I.T. Coed Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass. The women were led by Allison Chamberlain's (Scarborough, Me) 1st place finish in the 600 and the 1st place 4x400 relay team, while the men were paced by Bryan Kolacz's (Brentwood, N.H.) 1st place finish in the weight throw and Jared Samuel's (Londonderry, N.H.) fourth place finish in the mile.

"Overall it was a good meet for us" said KSC head coach Peter Thomas. "We improved on the track since last week and we just need to continue to improve as the season goes on."

For the women, Chamberlain also placed third in the 1000 meter race in a time of 3:04.54. Junior Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:29.51 and teamed up with Chamberlain, Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.) and Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) on the 4x400 team which placed first.

In the field events, Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) led the way with a second place finish in the high jump at 5'-1''.

On the men's side, Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:05.12.

In the field events, Kolacz won the weight throw with a heave of 16.92 meters (55-6 ¼ '') and placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 13.77 meters (45-2 ¼).

The Owls hit the track again next on Friday and Saturday at the Boston University Invitational starting at 2p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
