Box Score KEENE, N.H. 1/23/10 - The Keene State College
women's basketball team rolled to a one-sided 53-20 Little East
Conference victory over UMass-Boston at Spaulding Gym on Saturday.
The 20 points scored by UMB, (nine in the first half and 11 in
the second half) is the fewest given up by the Owls.
The Owls (11-5, 4-3 LEC) were led by sophomore guard Sara
Laudano (North Haven, Conn.) who finished with 15 points.
Senior guard Alyssa Sapp (Hartford, Vt.) scored 11 points and
senior forward Nicole Simmler (Oxford, Mass.) added 10 points. Five
players finished the game with six rebounds.
Freshman guard Kate Levy (Falmouth, Mass.) had six points for
UMB, which shot 7-53 (13%) from the field in the game.
The Owls scored the first 17 points in the game and never looked
back. Sapp and Laudano each had five points during the opening
run. The Beacons didn't hit their first field goals until
Levy had a conventional three-point play at the 8:46 mark of the
first half.
Keene State led 30-9 at halftime. The Owls began the
second half with an 8-0 run to go up 38-9.
Prior to the game, KSC honored Coach Keith Boucher for reaching
the 300th career victory milestone last week against
UMass-Dartmouth and presented a ball to senior Kristin Degou
(Newburyport, Mass.) to commemorate her 1,000th career point scored
earlier this season against Goucher College.
At halftime of the game, KSC celebrated 40 years of
intercollegiate women's basketball at the College.
Both teams play road LEC games on Tuesday. The Owls are at
Plymouth State and the Beacons go to Southern Maine.
