Sherry (Rehoboth, MA) scored three goals and the Keene
State College field hockey team went on to shut out Western
Connecticut State University, 4-0 at The WAC on Saturday
afternoon.
"It is a long trip going down to Danbury," said head coach Amy
Watson. "Aislynn had a nice game with the three goals but I thought
all of our forwards just played a great game for us."
Sherry, put the Owls up 1-0 when she collected a rebound in
front of the goal and slipped the ball past Colonial goaltender
Heather Stone (Valhalla, NY) in the 13th minute of
play.
KSC's leading scorer Elizabeth Coffin
(Sugar Hill, NH) added her 12th marker of the season six
minutes before intermission when she was set up by an assist from
senior captain Chelsea Blackmer
(Boylston, MA).
Sherry continued to score as she added two second-half goals. In
the 51st minute, Jacki Benson
(Hampstead, NH) led Sherry down field for a break-away
opportunity and 10 minutes later, Niki Smith (Southwick,
MA) dished out her second assist of the season to give
Sherry the hat trick for the night.
Stone, who has been nursing a shoulder injury all week, made
seven saves for the Colonials.
Senior goalie Meghan Ledoux
(Standish, ME) earned the victory in goal for the Owls
after making four saves in 61 minutes. She yielded to freshman
Courtney
Hearn (New Fairfield, CT) for the final 9:34. Hearn
did not have to make a save.
The Owls, now 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Little East Conference,
out-shot Western Conn., 25-9 on the afternoon.
KSC hits the road again this week, with an away contest on
Tuesday at in-state rival Plymouth State at 4 p.m. The Owls return
home Saturday, October 9th, for a 1:30 p.m. start against Southern
Maine.
