Box Score KEENE, N.H. 11/23/10 – The Keene State College women's basketball team lost a 56-53 non-conference game to Trinity College at Spaulding Gym on Tuesday night.
Keene State goes to 2-2 while Trinity improves to 2-1 on the season.
Junior Courtney Cirillo (Windsor Locks, Conn.), who hit nine of her 11 shots from the line, had a game high 21 points to go with eight rebounds. Sophomore Siobhan Carnell (Quincy, Mass.) came off the bench to score 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Senior Kristen Fahey (Cumberland, R.I.) scored 13 points and junior Kaitlin Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) added 12 points for Trinity. Senior Molly McGlynn (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) chipped in with eight points and a game high nine rebounds.
The Bantams took a 27-18 lead on consecutive breakaway lay-up by Ciarlegio with 2:20 to play in the half.
Sophomore Samantha Hemingway (Newport, N.H.) got the Owls to with four points (27-23) with a lay-up in the closing seconds of the first half.
KSC made several runs at the Bantams throughout the second half.
After Trinity went up by seven (52-45) on a turnaround jumper by Fahey with 5:59 to go, KSC answered with a 8-0 run, taking its first lead of the game (53-52) on a conventional three-point play by Carnell with 1:52 to play.
Freshman Emily Dixon's (Norwood, Mass.) basket in the Bantams next possession made it 54-53.
Carnell had a chance to give KSC the lead, but couldn't connect on a couple lay-up attempts. Fahey was fouled and hit a pair from the line to put Trinity up 56-53.
The Owls called time out, but couldn't get a shot off as time expired.
KSC shot 32% from the field (16-50) and hit four of its 12 three-point shots.
Trinity out-rebounded the Owls 41-32.
Both teams return to action next Tuesday. Keene State hosts Amherst College, the top ranked team in Division III. Trinity College plays Lasell College at home.
