KEENE, N.H. 12/4/10 –Freshman Kendra Mosley (Indian Head, Md.) scored 11 points in overtime, including three baskets from behind the arc, to lead the UMass-Boston women's basketball team to a 57-55 Little East Conference victory over Keene State at Spaulding Gym on Saturday. It was the league opener for both teams.  

Keene State falls to 2-4 (0-1 LEC) while the Beacons improve to 6-1 (1-0 LEC).

Both teams struggled from the field in a low-scoring first half.  After freshman Emily Winskowicz (Topsfield, Mass.) put the Owls up 12-10 with a couple of free throws, the Beacons went on a 13-2 run, taking a 23-14 lead on a lay-up by freshman Colleen Hopper (Mansfield, Mass.). KSC, which shot 19 % from the field (5-26), trailed 23-16 at the break.

Trailing by as many as nine points (32-23), the Owls made several mini-runs to get back into the game.  They'd eventually tied the game (38-all) on a pair of free throws by junior Courtney Cirillo (Windsor Locks, Conn.) with 5:39 to play in regulation.  A minute later, Cirillo gave the Owls a 41-38 lead with a three-pointer from the right of the foul line with 4:30 to play.

The scored didn't change until freshman Shelby Buck (Greenfield, OH.) tied the game with a three-pointer from the top of the circle with 31 seconds to play.

KSC held the ball for the final shot, but sophomore Siobhan Carnell's (Quincy, Mass.) jumper at the buzzer fell short sending the game into overtime.

Mosley took over in the overtime, knocking down a trio of three-point shots, putting UMB up 53-45 at the 1:17 mark.  KSC cut the Beacons lead down to three points on a three-pointer by Cirillo with 30 seconds to go.  However, free throws by Buck and Mosley sealed the win for the Beacons.

Cirillo finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Owls, who struggled from the field hitting 17 of their 63 shots.

Mosley had a game high 21 points and 11 rebounds for UMB. Buck added 13 points and Hooper finished with 10 points.
