KEENE, N.H. 2/20/10 - Keene State junior Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine) continued her impressive indoor track season by racing to a first place finish in the mile at the New England Division III Women's Track and Field Championships at Southern Maine on Saturday.
Chamberlain won the event with a time of 4:55.90, improving on her NCAA provisional qualifying mark by almost two seconds.
In other races, freshman Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) placed fifth in the 800-meter race (2:19.44) and sophomore Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) finished sixth in the 1,000 (3:04.58).
Keene State finished 13th in the 25-team field, scoring with 17 points. Williams won the team title with 156 points.
The Keene State men didn't score at the championship held at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine on Saturday.
Senior Jared Samuel (Londonderry, N.H.) had the top performance for the Owls on the track, placing 16th in the 3,000 (8:55.34). In field events, freshman Dante Hill (Springfield, Mass.) was 18th in the shot-put with a throw of 42'-06.75".
