BOSTON, MASS. 2/27/2010 - Juniors Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine) and Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) turned in strong performances for Keene State College at the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Boston University's Agganis Arena on Saturday.
Chamberlain won the 800-meter race with an NCAA automatic qualifying and Owl record time of 2:08.80. Freshman Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) placed 10th in the race with a time of 2:23.23. On Friday, Fitter had a personal best time of 2:16.28 in the trials.
The team of senior Ashley Sawyer (Billerica, Mass.), sophomore Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.), Chamberlain and Fitter finished 15th in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:03.25.
Keene State placed 16th in the 34 team field with 10 points. UConn won the women's championship with 202 points.
Kolacz finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 59'-00.75". He scored the only points (6) for the Owls in the men's field. UConn. also won the men's title with 140 points.
On the track, junior Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.) was 17th in the 5,000 (15:14.63) and senior Jared Samuel (Londonderry, N.H.) placed 20th in the 3,000 (8:42.35).
Keene State competes next weekend at the ECAC Championships at Smith College.
