Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. 2/6/10 - The Keene State men's basketball
team saw its four game winning streak come to an end with a tough
95-90 set back to Rhode Island College in Little East action at the
Murray Center on Saturday.
Keene State (12-9, 5-5 LEC) falls to fifth in the topsy-turvy
LEC standings while the Anchormen (14-7, 8-2 LEC) maintain their
lead on top of the conference.
The upset-minded Owls took an 11 point (83-72) lead on a lay-up
by sophomore Steve Boudreau (North Andover, Mass.)
with 5:44 to play.
The Anchormen went on a 15-4 run to tie the score (87-all) on a
conventional three-point play by Antone Gray with 1:39 to go.
Sophomore Cody Snow (Leyden, Mass.) hit two
free throws to put KSC up 89-87 at the 1:08 mark, but Gray came
down the floor and nailed a key three-pointer to put the Anchormen
ahead for good (90-89) with 44 seconds left on the clock.
Mason Choice, Gray and Jake Grimes hit free throws to seal the
win for RIC.
The loss spoiled a fine 30 point performance by sophomore
forward Derek D'Amours (Agawam, Mass.) , who was
12-19 from the field and 6-11 from behind the arc. Snow, who
was 9 of 11 from the field, added 21 points to go with eight
rebounds.
Grimes scored a game high 27 points and Gray finished with 24
points to lead the Anchormen, who have come out on top in nine of
their last games against the Owls.
Keene State returns home to face Eastern Conn. on Tuesday.
