Box Score 1 Clermont, Florida 3/19/10 – The Keene
State College softball team swept Bates College and Farleigh
Dickinson University – Florham 10-0 and 4-1 on Friday
afternoon at Hancock Park in Clermont, Florida. The wins make the
Owls record 7-3 on the season with only two more games to play on
their spring trip.
In the victory over Bates, Kayla Joyce (Bridgewater,
Mass.), Jessica Fiorenza (Wakefield,
Mass.) and Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.)
each ripped three hits.
Joyce started the rally in the third and sixth innings and
scored two runs, as did Fiorenza. Bradford opened the game up in
the third inning with a bases-clearing double and three
RBI's.
Sophomore pitcher Emily Albin (Bethel, Conn.)
went the distance allowing no runs and spreading out six polar bear
hits and striking out five for her second victory of 2010.
The Owls pitched by committee in game two against FDU-Florham.
Newcomer Sara Stocklinski (Newton, N.J.) started,
pitching three innings and striking out three batters and allowing
the only run for KSC. Ashley Clark (Alton, N.H.)
went the next two innings allowing no runs and a walk, while
Samantha Pratt (Bristol, Conn.) picked up her
second win in as many days pitching the final two innings in the
victory.
The KSC offense came alive in the sixth inning. Trailing 1-0,
Bradford laced an RBI single to even the game at 1-1. Sophomore
Laura Chandler (Wakefield, Mass.) ripped a two RBI
single, followed by another key RBI hit from sophomore
Elizabeth McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.).
The Owls conclude their spring trip tomorrow with gamers against
Plattsburgh State and Rochester (N.Y.) at 11:30 and 3:30.
