WENHAM, MASS. 9/4/10 – The Keene State women's
volleyball team posted a 2-1 record, including a first-ever win
over MIT, and Coach Bob Weiner notched his 350th career win at the
Gordon College Invitational on Saturday.
The Owls (3-1) opened the day by defeating MIT, a top regional
team 3-1. The game scores were 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, and
25-17). KSC had a fine defensive and passing match with
junior Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y), who was named to the
All-Tournament team, and senior Jamie Levine (Medfield, Mass.) each
finishing with 22 digs. Senior Sammy Datti (Durham, N.H.)
also had 20 digs. Offensively, Girard had 14 kills, junior
Madison McHugh (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Liz MacNaughton
(Burlington, Conn.) each had nine kills.
The Owls presented Weiner with his 350th career win with their
3-0 victory over Gordon. KSC prevailed 25-16, 25-16, and
25-15. Girard had another strong match with nine kills and 23
digs. MacNaughton chipped in with five kills and five blocks,
and Datti had 19 digs.
Keene State lost its final match of the day to Invitational
champion North Central College of Illinois 3-0. Games scores
were 25-17, 25-20, and 25-23. Levine led KSC with seven kills and
30 digs while Datti had 23 digs.
Keene State is at Westfield State on Tuesday.
