MEDFORD, Mass. 1/15/11 – Senior Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) won multiple events, as the Keene State College men's and women's track teams had a strong showing at the Tufts Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Gantcher Center.
Knoblock raced to victory in the 600 meter race (1:38.94) and in the 1000 meter race (3:07.24) to be the only multiple winner for the Owls. Sophomore Magie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) also raced to a victory for the women in the 800 meter event (2:28.13).
The women's team placed fourth with 84.50 points on the day, while host Tufts University won the invitational with 190.50 points.
For the men, senior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) won the weight throw event with a toss of 58'-1'' and placed second in the shot put with a throw of 49'-.75''.
Junior Steve George (Chicago, Illinois) placed first with a jump of 21'-3'' in the long jump.
On the track seniors Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.) and Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) each placed third in their respective events. MacKnight finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.22, while Loonan crossed the line third in the 1000 meters in a time of 2:36.50.
The men finished third overall for the invitational with 88 points. UMass-Lowell won the team title with 201 points.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday, as they will travel to the Wesleyan Invitational.
