Box Score NEWTON, MASS. 1/20/11 – The Keene State College women's basketball team built up an early lead and coasted to a 64-54 non-conference win over Lasell College in Newton, Mass. on Thursday.
The Owls, who have won three out of their last four games, improve to 7-9. Lasell falls to 1-14.
Showing no ill effects from playing back-to-back games, KSC raced out to 16-5 lead on a jumper by sophomore Siobhan Carnell (Quincy, Mass.) at the 13:10 mark.
The Owls added to the lead, taking a 40-22 to the locker room. KSC shot 52% (16-31) from the field and hit, five of its nine (56%) three-points attempts in the first half.
Keene State led by as many as 23 points (58-35) in the second half after a basket by Meghan Buckley (North Kingston, R.I.)
The Lasers fought back to get the deficit down to nine points (63-54) in the final minute of play.
Junior Sara Laudano (North Haven, Conn.) scored 15 points and Carnell finished with 12 points to lead the Owls. Junior Meghan Farrell (Chester, Vt.) had a fine overall game with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
Kayla Vincelette had a game high 17 points and Katie Farr finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to lead Lasell.
All 14 Owl players saw action in the game.
Keene State is at UMass-Boston on Saturday.
