Owls split on Senior day

KEENE, N.H. 1/29/11 – The Keene State College men's and women's swim teams wrapped up their dual meet schedules against Conn. College at Spaulding Gym pool on Saturday.  The Keene State men defeated Conn. College 166-100 to finish its season with a perfect 5-0 record while the Owl women (2-6) lost to the Camels 168-120 on Senior Day.

Cody Larrimore (Trappe, Md.), one of six seniors competing in their last home meet, along with sophomore Marc Marois (Derry, N.H.) and freshman Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) were double-winners for the Owls.  Larrimore won the 50 free (21.430 and the 100 fly (51.92), Marois won the 100 breast (1:02.40) and the 200 breast (2:15.54), and Ledwith won the 200 fly (2:00.86) and the 500 free (4:38.34). 

Seniors Dan Morse (Hope, R.I.) and Connor Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.) also posted wins for KSC.  Morse won the 1,000 free (10:03.18) and Pennoyer won the 100 free (47.47).

Senior D.J. Collis (Laconia, N.H.) and freshman Jared Hyde (Tolland, Conn.) joined Larrimore and Pennoyer to win the 200 medley relay (1:37.16).

Other seniors on the team include Patrick Luciano (Warren, N.J.) and Lucas Pozzetta (Merrimack, N.H.).

Junior Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.) and sophomore Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.) each won two races for the KSC women.  Whitaker won the 100 breast (1:06.18) and the 200 breast (2:27.13) and Umbrager won the 50 free (24.65) and the 100 free (54.21).  Junior Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) also finished first in the 100 fly (59.67).

Seniors on the women's team include Captains Bridget Kline (Norwalk, Conn.), and Jessica Laidley (Brockton, Mass.) and diver Rachel Battis (Beacon Falls, Conn.).

The Owls will now prepare for the NEISDA championships that take place Feb. 18-20 at White River Junction, Vt.
