Owls fall in five to Babson 3-2

BABSON PARK, MASS.  10/13/11 – The Keene State College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 non-conference match to Babson College at Staake Gymnasium on Thursday night.

The loss evens the Owls record at 10-10 while Babson improves to 11-10.

After winning the first game 26-24, the Owls lost the next two games 25-22 and 25-18.  Keene State won the fourth game 25-21.

In the fifth game, senior Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) got the Owls to within one point (12-11) on a kill, but the Beavers took the next three points to win the game 15-11.

O'Bryant led the Owls with 17 kills, 13 digs, and a pair of service aces and four blocks, senior Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) had 12 kills and 11 digs and junior Ali Facchini (Niantic, Conn.) finished with eight kills.  Freshman Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Va.) also had 21 digs.

Taking over at the setter position after senior Laurie Whalen (Niantic, Conn.) sprained her ankle in the middle of the first game, junior Meryl Ragaini (Seymour, Conn.) had 32 assists.

Keene State will take on Mount Holyoke College and Smith College in the LEC-NEWMAC Challenge on Saturday (12 p.m.) at Smith College.
