Box Score 2 NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 10/22/11- The Keene State College women's volleyball team swept a pair of 3-0 matches at the Tripp Athletic Center in North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday.
The Owls kept their hopes for a Little East championship alive with a 25-20, 25-15, and 25-16 LEC win over host UMass-Dartmouth and followed that up with a 25-17, 25-16, and 25-23 non-conference victory over Clark University later in the day.
Senior Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) surpassed the 1,000 career milestone in the match against the Corsairs, finishing with 13 kills and five blocks. Senior Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) filled up the score sheet with nine kills, 15 digs and two blocks. A solid team effort also included 33 assists and 11 digs by senior setter Laurie Whalen (Niantic, Conn.), 15 digs by freshman Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Va.), eight kills by senior Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) and five blocks by senior Braelan O'Toole (Derry, N.H.).
Davis added to career kill total in the second match against Clark, putting down 13 kills to go with three blocks. O'Bryant finished with 12 kills and 14 digs. In addition, Dormio had 12 digs, Girard had nine kills and two service aces, freshman Samantha Branning (Glastonbury, Conn.) added three blocks and Whalen collected 36 assists.
Extending their winning streak to five matches and moving five games over the .500 mark for the first time this season, the Owls improve to 15-10 and 4-1 in the LEC.
Keene State hosts Southern Maine in its final home regular season match on Tuesday ( 7p.m.).
