New London, Conn. 10/29/11 – Playing against one of the top teams in the region, the Keene State College volleyball team dropped a tough match to the Jumbo's of Tufts University 3-0 (25-19, 25-18 and 26-24) on Saturday afternoon at Connecticut College's Luce Field House.
"Tufts is the number four team in the region for a reason," said KSC head coach Bob Weiner. "We played straight up with them but just couldn't finish."
In the loss, senior outside hitter Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs to lead KSC. Fellow seniors Kristen Girard (Red hook, N.Y.) and Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) had seven and five kills respectively.
Senior setter Laurie Whalen (Niantic, Conn.) had 28 assists, while freshman libero Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Virginia) had 16 digs.
The Owls conclude their regular season with a record of 17-12 and earned the number three seed in the Little Eats Conference tournament with their 5-2 league record. They will square off against Rhode Island College on Tuesday night, in an LEC quarterfinal match at Spaulding gymnasium.
