Box Score 1 MIDDLETOWN, Conn. 10/8/11 – The Keene
State College volleyball team fell to Trinity (CT)College and host
Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC tri-match at
Silloway Gymnasium. The Owls fell to the Bantams 3-0 (25-23, 25-20,
25-21) in the morning, then dropped a 3-1 decision to the host
Cardinals (25-14, 16-25, 25-19, 25-23).
"We played good in spots against Trinity," said KSC head coach
Bob Weiner. "They were a consistent team and they just kept coming
at us. We just need to get it together."
In the loss to Trinity, senior Ellyse
Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior Alex
Lehocky (Edgewood, N.M.) each had 11 kills for KSC,
while Lehocky added two blocks.
Senior setter Laurie
Whalen (Niantic, Conn.) quarterbacked the Owls offense
with 32 assists.
Defensively, freshman Sammy
Dormio (Leesburg, Virginia) led the way with 24 digs.
Senior Kristen
Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) had 20 digs, while sophomore
Emma Cheal
(Redding, Conn.) added 14 digs of her own in the
straight-set loss.
Against the Cardinals, Girard had a season-high 13 kills and
added 13 digs. Davis again had 11 kills, while Whalen finished
with 43 total assists. Dormio finished with 14 digs.
Senior Bridget
O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) had 16 digs and three
service aces in the losing effort.
KSC returns home this Wednesday, with a key Little East
Conference game against Western Conn. State at 6 p.m.
