WALTHAM, MASS. 2/12/11 – Keene State divers Derek Peabody and Josh Tuller earned All-New England honors in the one-meter diving event at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) championships held at Bentley University on Saturday.

Peabody, a junior from Haverhill, Mass., placed third with a school record score of 356.30 points in his 11-dive performance.  Peabody, who just missed second place by 20 points, received All-New England honors for the second year in a row.  Making his first appearance at the championships, Tuller, a freshman from Plainview, N.Y., placed fifth with a score of 339.85 points.

Jon Andrews, a senior from Bentley, won the competition with a score of 423 points.

In the women's field, Rachael Battis, a senior from Beacon Falls, Conn. placed eighth with 278.20 points while Amber Beam, a freshman from Keene, N.H., took ninth with a score of 264.55 points.

Kim Schmidt, a junior from Westfield state, won the title with a score of 409.3 points.

“I was very pleased with the teams' performance,” said KSC diving coach Dave Mason.  “We overcame a couple of poor dives, but they didn't let it affect them.  They continued to fight through their struggles.”

The three-meter diving competition will take place on Sunday.
