WALTHAM, MASS. 2/12/11 – Keene State divers Derek
Peabody and Josh Tuller earned All-New
England honors in the one-meter diving event at the New England
Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA)
championships held at Bentley University on Saturday.
Peabody, a junior from Haverhill, Mass., placed third with a
school record score of 356.30 points in his 11-dive
performance. Peabody, who just missed second place by 20
points, received All-New England honors for the second year in a
row. Making his first appearance at the championships,
Tuller, a freshman from Plainview, N.Y., placed fifth with a score
of 339.85 points.
Jon Andrews, a senior from Bentley, won the competition with a
score of 423 points.
In the women's field, Rachael Battis, a
senior from Beacon Falls, Conn. placed eighth with 278.20 points
while Amber Beam, a freshman from Keene, N.H.,
took ninth with a score of 264.55 points.
Kim Schmidt, a junior from Westfield state, won the title with a
score of 409.3 points.
“I was very pleased with the teams'
performance,” said KSC diving coach Dave
Mason. “We overcame a couple of poor dives,
but they didn't let it affect them. They continued to
fight through their struggles.”
The three-meter diving competition will take place on
Sunday.
