NEISDA Diving: Tuller and Peabody earn All-New England honors on three-meter board

WALTHAM, MASS. 2/13/11 - Keene State divers Josh Tuller and Derek Peabody earned all-New England honors in the three-meter diving event at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) championships held at Bentley University on Sunday.  Both received the honor in one-meter competition on Saturday.

Tuller, a freshman from Plainview, N.Y. placed fourth with 301.75 points while Peabody a junior from Haverhill, Mass., finished fifth with 288.90 points.

"Considering it was my first time at the championships, I thought I did alright," said Tuller.  "It was a different experience and I have a lot to work on."

"I wasn't as happy with my dives today as I was yesterday, but overall I was pleased with my performance," said Peabody.

Christian Francia from UMass-Dartmouth won the championship with 362.15 points.

The lone KSC competitor in the women's field, senior Rachael Battis from Beacon Falls Conn. finished eighth with 259.20 points.  Kim Schmidt from Westfield State won the title with 416 points.

The points from the diving competition will be added to next weekend's swimming meet at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt.  to determine the NEISDA champions.

The Owl women will be hunting for their fourth straight championship, and the KSC men will be looking for their third consecutive title.
