KEENE, N.H. 2/19/11 – Keene State College senior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) continued his strong indoor season by winning the weight throw event at the New England Division III Track and Field Championships at Springfield College on Saturday.
Posting his second-best throw of the season, Kolacz won the event with a mark of 63'-03.50". He also placed third in the shot-put (49'-10.00").
All of Keene State's points at the meet came in field events. Junior Steven George (Chicago, Ill.) placed seventh in the long jump (22'-0.150") and freshman Evan Miller (Granville, N.Y.) finished eighth in the high jump (6'-02.00").
Keene State finished 12th with 19 points. MIT with 114 points edged Williams (112 points) for the team championship.
Senior Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) improved her ranking in the national standings with a second place performance in the mile (4:56.17) and finished third in the 1,000 (3:01.13) at the Women's Division III Track and Field Championships at MIT. Junior Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.) was also sixth in the mile race with a time of 5:09.45.
Also on the track, sophomore Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) and junior Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) placed third (2:18.24) and eighth (2:22.97) respectively in the 800-meter race. Junior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) was seventh in the 3,000 (10:17.19).
The team of Fitter, Walsh, Titus and Mills finished fifth in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:36.03.
In field events, sophomore Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 5'-02.25".
The Owl women finished ninth in the team standings with 32 points. Williams (141 points) slipped past MIT (137 points) to win the team title.
