AMHERST, Mass. 4/16/11 – Senior
Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) raced her way to
the NCAA provisional mark in the 5,000 meter race, and senior
Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) won the hammer
throw, as the Owls competed at the Minuteman Invitational at UMass
Amherst Saturday afternoon.
Knoblock's time of 17:29.16 was good enough for first
place and provisionally qualifies her for the event at the NCAA
Division III Track and Field Championships.
Sophomore Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) and
junior Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) each took hom
third place finishes for the Owls. Fitter's time of 4:52.14
in the 1500 meters placed her third, while Titus' finish of
18:20.15 in the 5,000 meters earned her the bronze.
Kolacz, who hit the NCAA provisional mark last weekend at UMass
Lowell, won the hammer event with a throw of
188'-8''. The senior also placed second in the
discus with a toss of 144'-4''.
Senior Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.) had a
fine day on the track for the men with his second place finish in
the 5,000 meter race in a time of 15:02.46.
The Owls track and field team's head to Springfield
College next Saturday.
