KEENE, N.H. 5/20/11 – It's a six hour drive from Keene State College to Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., but it turned out to be a worthwhile trip for Amy Knoblock.
The senior from Plymouth, Mass., won the 1,500-meter race at the ECAC Division III Championships on Friday with a personal best time of 4:29.37. "I took the lead right off the bat, stayed in front and was able to kick strong at the end," said Knoblock. "I was very pleased with my race."
Knoblock's time is less than half a second off the automatic standard for the NCAA Division III championships and puts her in a better position heading into the national meet. She's currently seventh on the NCAA Division III performance list in the event.
Knoblock will be looking to add outdoor All-Americans honors to the two she earned at the indoor championships. Knoblock finished third in the mile and was a member of the Owls' distance medley relay team that also placed third at the meet.
The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Ohio Wesleyan University (May 27-29).
