CAMBRIDGE, Mass. 5/7/11 – The Keene State
College men's and women's track team competed at the
2011 Division III New England Championships on Friday and Saturday.
Leading the men, senior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) broke
the school record in the discus throw and won the hammer and for
the women, junior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) placed fourth in the
10,000 meter race and provisionally qualified for NCAA
Championships.
On Friday, Kolacz's toss of 155'-6''
broke his own school record to place him fourth in the discus
throw. Saturday morning, the senior came back to win the hammer
throw with a toss of 191'-9''.
The Owl men finished with 15 points for a 15th place
finish. Williams took the men's title with 151 points.
In other field events, freshman javelin thrower Kristen Huckins
(Westmoreland, N.H.) placed 6th with a toss of
122'-1''.
On the track, Walsh placed fifth in the 10k with a personal best
time of 36:59.10, landing her on the NCAA Championships provisional
list.
The Keene State women placed 19th with seven points.
MIT took the team title with 141.5 points.
The Owls return to action this weekend as they will travel to
Open New England Championships at Southern Conn. State University
on Friday and Saturday.
