PROVIDENCE, R.I. 9/10/11 – After starting the Johnson & Wales Tournament 2-0 on Friday night, the Keene State College volleyball team fell to Amherst 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 28-26, 25-20) and to Conn. College 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-10) on Saturday afternoon.
With the pair of losses, the Owls fall to 2-2 in the tournament and 3-4 on the season.
Against Amherst, senior's Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) and Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) paced the Owls attack with 15 kills apiece.
Senior setter Laurie Whalen (Niantic, Conn.) had 41 assists and 21 digs for KSC.
O'Bryant had a match-high 24 digs and junior right side Ali Facchini (Niantic, Conn.) had four solo blocks in the losing effort.
In the loss to Conn. College, senior Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) had six kills to lead the Owls Offense. Whalen had 21 set assists, while O'Bryant had a team-high 14 digs.
The Owls return to action Tuesday night, as they will travel to in-state rival Colby Sawyer College for a 7 p.m. start.
